INPI government fees (per class)
Set by Ordinance GM/MDIC No. 110/2025. Since 20 Sep 2025, Brazil applies a single fee: the amount paid at filing already covers the grant, the certificate and the first 10 years of protection. Government fees are paid directly to the INPI and are separate from professional fees.

How much does it cost to register a trademark in Brazil?
Official INPI fees start at BRL 440 per class (about USD 80) for small entities using the pre-approved list of goods and services, and BRL 880 per class for regular companies. Since September 2025, Brazil uses a single-fee system: the amount paid at filing already covers registration and the first 10 years of protection. How long does trademark registration take in Brazil?
A smooth application (no office actions or oppositions) currently takes around 18 months, and the Brazilian PTO (INPI) is working toward a 10-month target. Legal priority, however, starts on the filing date — first to file wins in Brazil.
Can a foreign company or individual register a trademark in Brazil?
Yes. Foreign applicants can register directly with the INPI, but must appoint a representative domiciled in Brazil with powers to receive service of process. That is exactly the service we provide, end to end.
Does Brazil follow first-to-file or first-to-use?
Brazil is essentially a first-to-file jurisdiction under Law 9,279/1996, with narrow exceptions. If you sell or plan to sell in Brazil — including on Mercado Livre or Amazon Brazil — filing early is the only reliable protection for your brand.
